The former Edson Childs, George Waner, and Newcomer Ford garage building was ready Friday afternoon for the wrecking crew of Buckner Construction Co.

Now owned by Central National Bank Marion County, the old brick building was ready to be razed to provide a parking lot to serve customers and employees of the soon-to-be-enlarged bank.

The Marion/Collegiate football game Friday was the focus of much attention since Collegiate’s running back, DeAngelo Evans, needed just over 100 yards for the state rushing title. Though the Warriors lost, 26-50, Warrior coaches were pleased with the team’s performance under pressure.

Kingfisher’s Inn is featured in the most recent issue of Kansas! magazine. The article describes the restaurant’s history, food, and key to success: down-home hospitality by owners Bob and Kathy Sprowls and their 23 employees.

Marion High School homecoming candidates for 1994 are Dawn Spencer, Kay Summervill, Laura Hanes, Brian Loomis, Lucas King, and Aaron Reiswig. Winners will be crowned Friday during halftime of the Marion/Remington football game.
