Lightly regarded before the season, the Marion High School football team is now one of only two Class 3A schools still playing football in Kansas. Friday they ripped apart Wellsville 41-6. They will play Wichita Collegiate Friday in the state playoffs in Hays.

Marion native Carla Stovall will be the next attorney general of Kansas. She will be sworn into office in January. Stovall won handily over Democratic nominee Richard Schodorf.

Aaron Reiswig has been named student of the month by the Marion High School faculty. The senior is the son of Larry and Jolene Reiswig of Marion.

St. Luke Hospital and Marion County EMS staff staged a disaster drill Nov. 7. Both groups were pleased with the results.

Twelve Marion High School students were inducted recently into the National Honor Society.

They are Jodi Bernhardt, Austin Gilbert, Eliza Bennett, Amanda Hanson, Jennifer Maggard, Kathryn Vantuyl, Josh Cooper, Katie Barta-Moran, Christopher Bowers, Gabrielle Longhofer, Aaron Reiswig, and Lisa Zogelman.
