City of Marion crews were at work early Tuesday spreading sand following a snow storm that blasted through the area Monday. Spring-like weather is on order for later in the week.

Mark Heidebrecht has sold his Marion dental practice to Timothy Woods, DDS, of Hillsboro effective Saturday. Heidebrecht’s new practice is at 202 N. Main in El Dorado.

Marion Elementary School second graders, teacher, and parents visited Twin Feathers Emu Ranch during a recent study of Australia. Students spent the afternoon learning about the birds, petting them, and collecting feathers. Owners of the ranch are Larry Bina and Gail and Marissa Makovec.

Local rancher Dan Holub was appointed Monday to fill the remaining two years of the unexpired term of the late Roland Parli on the Marion Unified School District Board of Education.

Bride-elect Kristy Herbel was guest of honor Saturday at a china shower at the home of Marge Summervill. Assisting hostesses were Sally Hannaford, Karen Regnier, and Robin Summervill.
