Kansas State Historical Society has given preliminary approval to renovate Marion County Courthouse to make the courthouse fully accessible. Included in the project are an elevator and renovations to the courtroom.

Marion City commissioners agreed Monday to proceed with an addition to the Marion Fire Department building to house the police department. The larger facilities will accommodate interview room and evidence storage.

Several Marion Elementary School second graders have works published in the “Anthology of Poetry of Young Americans,” 1995 edition.

Students are Leann Thomas, Chloe Boley, Briana Vogel, Amber Richmond, Molly Rhodes, Adam Guetersloh, Torey Hett, and Paul Helmer.

The 80th birthday of Ella Winter was honored Sunday when family and friends joined together to celebrate the occasion.

The boys are students in John Moore’s technology classes where they learn basics of design and engineering.
