Marion County Commission met Monday and approved a proposal to remove a small stone arch bridge southwest of Marion, replacing it with a larger, modern bridge. As many as possible of the cut stones will be saved, perhaps for use in projects at the county lake.

Kansas Attorney General Carla Stovall will be the Marion High School commencement speaker at 4 p.m. Sunday. There are 44 graduates expected to participate. Stovall is a 1975 graduate of MHS and the daughter of Carl and Juanita Stovall of Marion.

Members of Brownie Troop 59 have achieved the coveted “honor troop” status. The 18 girls in the troop include Jessica Carlson, Adrienne Chamberland, Lena O’Connor, Amy Park, Jenna Parli, Misti Richmond, Ranell Schroeder, Rose Taylor, Katie Whitaker, Chelsi Carlson, Shelia Goepfert, Jill Hannaford, Samantha Hett, Molly Rhodes, Amber Richmond, LeAnn Thomas, Briana Vogel, and Kendra Holub.
