Marion County Commissioners on Monday approved a preliminary plan for a shower hall to be located south of the lake hall at Marion County Lake.

The first-ever Marion County Relay for Life held at the Tabor College track Friday raised more than $9,000 for the American Cancer Society. More than 150 persons participated in the actual walk.

Pat Ash is pictured as she sits behind her desk as the new secretary in the principal’s office at Marion High School. She started May 1 under the supervision of 24-year veteran, Fern Friesen, who retired in July. Ash worked at the Marion County Clerk’s office for 20 years.

Eighteen pilots of the so-called “Short Wing Piper” aircraft club visited Marion Airport Saturday for their second fly-in meeting and lunch at Kingfisher’s Inn. They were greeted by Bob Moody of Marion County Lake, a member of the organization whose Tri-Pacer is based at the local airport.

Two Kansas coaches have just returned from coaching teams in the Sports Challenge International basketball tournament in Belgium. Greg Wyatt of Centre High School coached Kansas Blue, featuring girls from the Topeka/Kansas City area and Gayla Soyez of Tabor College coached Wichita-area girls.
