A housing addition proposed for Marion has received federal approval, consultant Peggy Blackman told Marion City Commission Monday. The development will feature 16 duplexes that are not designed for a specific income or age group. Each individual housing unit will have two or three bedrooms.

After 10 years of working for Flint Hills Clay works in Marion, Paula Miller is going to own a piece of it herself. Owner Les Byer has decided to sell the pottery-making portion of the shop to Miller. Byer and his wife Celia will continue to own the clay-making section which has become the main source of the business’s revenue.

Della Rittgers retired last week after 22 years of service to children in Marion School District 408 as a school bus driver. Rittgers has seen 22 new kindergarten classes, 10 of which have since graduated from high school.
