Ron Wineinger is pictured on the front page as Senator Bob Dole is welcoming him to the nation’s capital. A Marion High School graduate, Wineinger is national president of FFA and directs activities of the half million members in 8,350 chapters across the country. He is the second Kansan to be elected national president of FFA.

Four tons of equipment being hoisted to the roof of St. Luke Hospital will provide fresh air for the new heating/air conditioning system nearing completion. The unit was designed especially for the Marion hospital by specialists in Pennsylvania. The $230,000 project started Aug. 1 and will be ready for final inspection Jan. 30.

Gregory L. Bowers was elected vice president of The Farmers and Drovers National Bank at the firm’s January meeting of its board of directors. Bowers began work at the bank in May 1977. He was elected assistant vice president in January 1980.

Senator Bob Dole has accepted an invitation to be the featured speaker for Marion High School’s centennial graduation ceremony. The special event is scheduled for May 20 in Central Park. It will mark the centennial of graduating classes at Marion High School. The first class graduated in 1884.

The town received five inches of new snow over the weekend.

Mr. and Mrs. Herman Buethe, Lincolnville, will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary at an open house Jan. 29 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Lincolnville. Hosts for the occasion will be their children, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Buethe and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Wilcox.
