Several Marion County photography students are displaying examples of their work at Farmers and Drovers National Bank in Marion. Student exhibitors include Judy Christensen, Bernie Groves, Vicki Jackson, Sue Harris, Bill Harmon, and Sandy Garrard, all of Marion. They are the students of David Longhofer, who teaches Photography I and II for Butler County Community College as part of the school’s outreach program in Marion County.
Cub Scout Pack 102’s Pinewood Derby was held Monday night at the American Legion hall. Seventeen boys competed. Todd Winter took first place; Kevin Marler, second; and Gary Klose, third. Josh Martin received the best-designed car award.
Marion County Record editor Bill Meyer will lecture on editorial writing at the William Allen White School of Journalism Friday at the University of Kansas in Lawrence.
The Rev. Lester Owens, long time minister of the Florence Christian Church and active community worker and volunteer, will retire Sunday. Members of the community are invited to attend a basket dinner Sunday in the Florentine Senior Center. The Owens will be moving to Abilene.
Joe Zinn of Lost Springs was installed as president-elect of the Kansas Water Well Association Jan. 12 at the organization’s convention in Great Bend. Zinn served as vice president last year.
