Marion’s sixth annual “Art in the Park” was held Saturday in Central Park. Hundreds of spectators wound through Central Park to view and purchase handiwork from around the state.

Leo Jirak of Jirak Brothers Produce, Tampa, displayed a 17¾-pound cantaloupe Saturday on top of his pickup. Jirak’s truck was brimming with freshly picked zucchini and ripe, aromatic cantaloupes and watermelons. Produce buyers said they could smell the melons almost a block away.

Albert Klenda, president of the board of directors at St. Luke Hospital, present a plaque to K.C. Widler Thursday evening commemorating his 15 years of outstanding service on the hospital board. Widler has retired his position on the board.

Reunions reported in this issue include those of the following families: Eli Blankley, Hett, Hanschu, Clee Ford, John Odle and Noah Spilter, and Dr. JohnWilcox.

Galen Helmer of Marion caught a 34-pound flathead while drifting over the old river channel at Marion Lake.
