Cyclists from across Kansas will wheel into Marion this weekend for the second annual Marion Bicycle Rally. The event, arranged through the Oz Bicycle Club of Wichita, features three days of touring and endurance rides.

Richard Loomis, 20, of Marion is recovering rapidly following a kidney transplant operation early Sunday morning at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita. He is a nephew of Cora Loomis and Ann Bacon of Marion, and is a former employee of the City of Marion.

Members of the Marion High School yearbook staff are justly proud of the big “E” award presented to them by Jostens American Yearbook Company. This is the fourth consecutive year MHS staffers have earned the top award.

Marion City commissioners spent the greatest share of the Monday afternoon session studying proposals for computerized billing and accounting and the possibility of constructing a garage for ambulance storage.

A surprise birthday supper at the home of Marvin and Maggie Meisinger Friday evening celebrated Maggie’s “39th” birthday.

Nancy Schlehuber of Marion has been awarded the Esther Twente scholarship in social work for the 1983-64 academic year at the University of Kansas. A graduate student, she has been attending the KU social work program in Wichita and now will be commuting to Lawrence for classes.
