Marion people will be drinking better water by Oct. 1 if predictions of Babar Khan, consulting engineer, hold true. The pipeline project is going “on schedule” and he expects construction will be completed within a week to 10 days.
A display of more than 120 hand-sewn quilts, comforters, and pillows was presented Friday at a special showing by the Marion Stitch and Chatter Club at Eastmoor United Methodist Church. Included in the display were 57 quilts, 14 afghans, 24 stitched pictures, 15 pillows, six comforters, three bed spreads, and three baby quilts.
Daniel Bowers escorted Nancy Swartz, 1983 FFA Sweetheart, to her seat Friday night during halftime activities at the Marion High School football game. Swartz competed with seven other high school juniors for the crown.
John Klenda, 31, formerly of Marion, has been named county attorney of McPherson County. The son of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Klenda, his wife Pam is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Griffith.
Dave Pinkston of Newton and fellow contractor, Howard Wedel, are pictured constructing a 50’ x 40’ steel industrial building as an addition to the VFW Hall.
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Backhus, Tampa, announce the engagement of their daughter, Bev, to Tom Reid, son of Neva Reid, Florence, and the late Leo Reid. The couple will be married Oct. 22 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Tampa.
