Marion city commissioners are proceeding cautiously on the matter of selling treated water wholesale to the City of Peabody. Peabody has proposed that it purchase treated water from either Marion or Hillsboro. Feelers have been extended to both communities, which purchase their raw water from the federal reservoir, Marion Lake. Mayor Peggy Blackman and Utilities Commissioner Jack Regnier were enthusiastic about the proposal but Finance Commissioner Larry Loomis was not as certain.
Three area residents were recently appointed Emporia State University alumni ambassadors. They are Judith A. Dannenfelser, Florence; Helen L. Reznicek, Marion; and James L. Hein, Durham.
Kari’s Kuties is a traveling dance troupe comprised of nine students of Mary Ann’s School of Dance in Marion. They were featured entertainers recently at the Kansas Junior Miss state pageant finals in Belleville. Karoly Kohls is the instructor. Dancers are Meggan Silhan, Ramie Bina, Leah Sigel, Vicki Schaffer, Paula Westerfield, Jean Ollenburger, Stephanie Williams, and Tomi Monroe.
Mick Summervill and his wife Marjorie, their daughters Robin, 13, and Kay Lynn, 6, and son Timothy, 8, will be spotlighted at the American Royal Livestock and Horse Show on Nov. 16 at the American Royal Kansas Farm Family for 1983.
Bennie Holtsclaw, singing rancher from Cedar Point, will bring a program of gospel music to Strassburg Baptist Church Nov. 27.
