More than 425 people enjoyed a steak dinner at the Marion City Building Monday evening when the Marion Chamber of Commerce held its annual Farm-City Week steak fry.
Charles Schmidtberger has been a busy game protector these past couple of weeks, not only with hunting season but also with photographers. He was pictured in full color on the front page of The Wichita Eagle, shown in a boat at Marion Lake in The Kansas City Times, and appeared over the nightly news broadcast of KAKE Channel 10.
Combines are busy in the milo fields and everyone is hoping the beautiful weather of the last few days will continue on past Thanksgiving. If you can believe weather reports, it will not. However, the weathermen have been known to be wrong. Several heavy frosts over the past week and a half are helping to bring the last of the leaves off the trees.
The Key Award at the annual Marion County 4-H Achievement Banquet went to Tammy Penner of the South Cottonwood 4-H Club, Daryl Wedel of the Goessel Goal Getters, and Kim Buethe of the Lincolnville Wide Awake Club.
Janet Bryant and Mary Longhofer attended a reception for Hugh O’Brian Nov. 15 at the Wichita Club in the Kansas State Bank building, Wichita. Bryant represented the Kansas Federation of Women’s Clubs, one of the sponsors of the Hugh O’Brian Youth Foundation Kansas Leadership Seminar.
