Four area restaurants are featured in a new book on dining spots in Kansas. Kingfisher’s Inn, Marion; Al’s Café, Lost Springs; Olde Towne Kitchen, Hillsboro; and Barnstormer’s Restaurant, Goessel, are among those featured. Authors selected Kingfisher’s Inn because of its good food and scenic location at Marion County Lake.

Summerfest ’92 will kick off June 12 with an evening of activity in Central Park. KSNW-TV will broadcast part of its evening news live from the park. A barbecue meal will be served by the Cottonwood Valley Cattlewomen’s Association.

Shaun Paul Reid was the center of attention Sunday when he and his mother, Tracy, were honored with a layette shower at the Marion County Lake hall.

Longtime Centre High School staff member and supporter Al Riffel of Lincolnville was honored March 22 by state athletic directors when he was presented the Elmer “Carp” Carpenter Award for outstanding support of extra-curricular activities in Centre Unified School District.
