A Marion product is now available at Bloomingdale’s in New York City. Heartland Mixes has sent 12 dozen mixes — four dozen each of carob coffeecake, bran muffin, multi-grain pancake, and oat biscuit — to the store as part of a Kansas promotion. The month-long promotion features 24 Kansas companies whose products have a state fair theme.
Part-time resident at Marion County Lake Preston D. Huston, chairman and CEO of Associated Advertising Agency Inc., Wichita, has been honored as Ad Man of the Year by the 9th District American Advertising Federation.
Jennifer Blount, a senior at Marion High School, has been named student of the month by the MHS faculty. A daughter of Richard and Cynthia Blount of Marion, Jennifer plans to attend the University of Kansas, where she will major in environmental engineering.
“Beary Special Babies” born at St. Luke Hospital during the month of March include Ashleigh Kay Svitak, born March 2; Lindsay Lanell Hett, March 13; Garret James Hiebert, March 18; and Macy Lyn Wyss, March 28.
Dorothy Lawrence, who has served as register of deeds for the past 12 years, has announced plans to retire effective May 1. Republican precinct committee members will nominate a replacement to serve the remainder of Lawrence’s term.
