Most of the elected officials for Marion County were installed for four-year terms in a ceremony Monday. Sworn in by Judge Michael Powers were county commissioners Linda Peterson and Charles DeForest, attorney Keith Collett, clerk Marquetta Eilerts, register of deeds Faye Makovec; and sheriff Edward Davies.

The entire Marion Post Office allocation of 1,600 Elvis stamps sold out in 90 minutes Friday afternoon, postmaster Larry Gultz said.

Msgr. Arthur Tonne of Marion is featured on the cover of the current issue of Kanhistique, a newspaper that specializes in Kansas history and reports on collectible items. The article is titled “Monsignor of the Plains.”

Diane Jeffrey and sons Clinton and Calvin are pictured as they watch colorful piranhas in a 55-gallon aquarium in their living room. Small children who regularly attend day care at the Jeffrey home also are intrigued watching the antics of its colorful aquatic inhabitants.

Marion Kiwanis Club will celebrate its 70th anniversary Feb. 15 with a banquet at Eastmoor United Methodist Church.

Norma Kline presented a program, “The World of Dolls,” at a Jan. 4 meeting of 20th Century Club. Kline described materials from which dolls are made, styles of dolls of various eras, and monetary values of some.
