Marion County commissioners approved a preliminary plan Monday for a shower hall south of the lake hall at Marion County Lake.
The first-ever Marion County Relay for Life at the Tabor College track Friday raised more than $9,000 for American Cancer Society. More than 150 people participated in the walk.
Pat Ash is pictured as she sits behind her desk as new secretary in the principal’s office at Marion High School. She started May 1 under the supervision of 24-year veteran, Fern Friesen, who retired in July. Ash worked at the Marion County clerk’s office for 20 years.
Eighteen pilots of the so-called Short Wing Piper aircraft club visited Marion Airport for their second fly-in meeting and lunch Saturday at Kingfisher’s Inn. They were greeted by Bob Moody of Marion County Lake, a member of the organization whose Tri-Pacer is based at the Marion airport.
Two coaches have returned from coaching teams in the Sports Challenge International basketball tournament in Belgium. Greg Wyatt of Centre High School coached Kansas Blue, featuring girls from the Topeka / Kansas City area, and Gayla Soyez of Tabor College coached Wichita-area girls.
