Bill Meyer, editor and publisher of the Marion County Record, has been appointed by Attorney General Carla J. Stovall to a committee to study open meeting laws.
Thirty people attended a town meeting Nov. 14 to begin discussion of ways to improve downtown Marion. Larry Reiswig of Central National Bank was chairman.
Casey’s General Stores of Ankeny, Iowa, has requested permission from Kansas Department of Transportation and the City of Marion to build a retail facility on the northwest corner of Main and Freeborn Sts. in Marion.
Junior Gabrielle Longhofer has been selected student of the month by Marion High School faculty. Her parents are Janet and David Longhofer.
An article by staff writer Rowena Plett features Robert B. “Bob” Gayle, whose last day as maintenance supervisor for the City of Florence will be Tuesday. Gayle joined the city staff in 1969.
Marion County high school students who maintained a 3.25 grade-point average throughout high school were recognized Thursday by Tabor College.
