The Marion-Florence school board heard Monday about the City of Marion’s first offer to rent to the schools two ball diamonds for high school baseball and softball programs.

The city wants $5,000 per year for five years if paid in advance or $6,000 a year if paid per year. The city also wants a guaranteed five-year contract.

Board members were upset by what they considered excessive charges.

Tabor College has announced a campaign to raise money for a new two-story, 19,586-square-foot natural science building on the campus at Hillsboro. Included will be a greenhouse, a 70-seat lecture hall, an animal observation area, and an 1,850-foot two-story atrium.
