Eight German students from the Committee for the Promotion for Youth Exchange met briefly Monday with Marion City Commission members. The coup brings students from Berlin to Marion for several days each year. They are staying with host families.
Ecker-Fulkerson-Slifer Post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars will observe its 50th birthday with a dinner April 13 at the post home for members and auxiliary members.

Lincolnville firefighters and first responders attended the 13th annual training school March 14-17 in Topeka sponsored by the State Capitol Area Firefighters Association. Nearly 400 people attended the school at the Holiday Inn City Center.
Among those attending were fire chief Lester Kaiser; firefighters Jay Czarnowsky, Janet Jirak, David Kaiser, Barry Montgomery, and Tim Porter, and emergency medical technician Kim Czarnowsky, who is pictured far above the ground as she lowers herself and a victim during a training exercise.
