Marion’s future looks brighter than ever. Over half a million is being spent on school buildings, about three million will go to the new channel and dike on Mud Creek, over a quarter million will restore the Elgin Hotel, several million will be needed to construct the new highway, and a big bundle is said to be pledged to construct an agriculture-related industry in Marion soon.

Susie Klenda, whose marriage to Joe Ragole will occur Dec. 27, was complimented with a miscellaneous shower Nov. 30 at St. John’s Catholic Church, Pilsen. Hostesses were Mrs. James Loney, Marion, Mrs. Benedict Klenda and Mrs. Joseph Klenda, Wichita, and Miss Gail Sadowski, Emporia.

The Marion High School “Swing Singers will present another traditional Christmas candlelight celebration Saturday and Sunday. Members of this year’s group are Cheryl Robinson, Kathy Edmunds, Kim Duke, Khrista VanBuren, Lori Schmidtberger, Betsy Bowers, Nancy Wood, Rhonda Williams, Michelle Mellott, Paula Vinduska, Kevin Fruechting, Tim Zerger, Gene Ewert, Randy Just, David Colburn, Rick Just, Gary Boyle, Jay Wealand, and Steve Smith.

Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Weber attended the Christmas concert of the Kansas Wesleyan philharmonic choir in Salina Sunday evening. Their son, Ron, is a member of the choir.
