Marion will be on television at 1 p.m. Saturday. The town will be featured on the “We the People” show over KTVH, Channel 12. Several local leaders will be present for the program, and various scenes of Marion will be shown.
Julia Mullen, pictured on the front page of this issue, is a familiar Christmas season “peddler” in Marion. She is shown with her well-filled basket of holiday goodies as she begins her round visiting friends and neighbors.
Jeff Longhofer of Marion is one of seven Washburn University students who will join 60 others from other American colleges and universities to study in Copenhagen, Denmark, during the spring semester.
Mr. and Mrs. Rendel Newsom left by jet Sunday for a three month visit in Basrah, Iraq, with their daughter Donna and family, Mr. and Mrs. Kasim Tabatabai, Susan, Amani, and Muna.
Winners in the Chamber of Commerce Christmas art contest from the junior high level have been announced. Randy Richmond and Sharon Flint won in the eighth grade. Seventh grade winners were Donna Casey, Angie Hess, and Aaron Hett.
Rick Erickson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leland Erickson, Burdick, and Collette Collett, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Collett, rural Marion, will serve as ambassadors for Emporia State College in this area during the Christmas holidays.
