The first baby of 1976 born at St. Luke Hospital in Marion will receive many useful and attractive prizes. The Marion County Record’s annual first baby contest attracts considerable attention each year. Last year’s winner was Alison Louise Wood, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Wood. She was born Jan. 10.

Elmer Pritz announced this week that he will not run for re-election as city commissioner. Pritz has been Marion’s utilities commissioner for the past nine years. Other city commissioners are Jack Regnier, mayor, and Bud Pierce, finance commissioner.

KanzAton Junior Club will sponsor another movie night Friday in Marion Municipal Auditorium as a community service project. The movies will be “Million Dollar Duck” and “The Raven.” Admission price will be 75 cents for the double feature.

The Marion High School freshman-sophomore basketball team is comprised of the following: Jeff Kurtz, Rick Richmond, Jerry Hett, Casey Case, Bret O’Dell, Jay Smith, Doug Heerey, Van Kerns, Darin Helmer, Mike Moore, Ed Robinson, Troy Bridges, Jeff Richmond, Larry Kirkpatrick, Dennis Druse, Jeff Griffith, Barry Allen, and Kevin Wilson. Bill Edmunds is manager.

Rhonda Richmond accompanied Mrs. Al Hunt, Barbara Hunt, and Mary Ann Elling to New York for the Christmas holidays to visit relatives.

When the whistles blow and the bells ring out at midnight, a leap year will be ushered in. Time for anyone looking for a man to get busy. This is the one chance in four years when a gal can pop the question.
