Members of Centre Lodge, Ancient Free and Accepted Masons (AF&AM) will celebrate the annual Past Masters night Oct. 28 with a banquet at the Masonic Temple. During the evening, Frank Hagans will receive his 50-year emblem and 25-year pins will go to Arthur V. Schmidt, Edward Stenzel and Peter P. Flaming.

A bus has been chartered to take persons from Marion to visit Marquette and Lindsborg on Thursday. Improvements in accordance with the PRIDE program, and especially as store fronts are affected, will be the main interest.

It was a glorious day Sunday on the high prairie five miles east and one north of Marion when a small church congregation that had been worshipping together for 100 years held a celebration there. The original families that heard the circuit rider, who had come 60 miles from Junction City to hold the first service in 1875, were represented down through seven generations.

Mr. and Mrs. George Vinduska will be honored Oct. 26 at a 50th wedding anniversary open house at St. John Nepomucene Church in Pilsen.

Three law enforcement officers in Marion County, Mike Childs, sheriff’s deputy, Tom Pryor, Marion city police force, and Byron McCarty, Hillsboro police force, have been spending the past five weeks attending classes at Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center, Hutchinson.
