The Marion Flood Control Project, dike and ditch on Luta Creek, was one of the projects included in President Ford’s proposed budget for the coming year. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers project is listed to receive $1,300,000 for fiscal 1977.

The Marion County Pizza Hut, located at the east edge of Hillsboro on U.S. 56 will open for business Monday, Feb. 2.

Marion Countians have become accustomed to low flights of F-105 fighter-bombers out of McConnell AFB, Wichita. But, the “big birds” going over recently are the Strategic Air Command B-52s and FB-111s. These much larger planes will continue to fly low-level practice missions along a route that starts in Arkansas and terminates near Salina until January 1977.

Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Gleason of Florence are the parents of the first baby born at St. Luke Hospital in 1976. Their daughter, Wendi Lea, was born Wednesday Jan. 21 weighing 8 pounds 1 ounce.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Kjellin, Marion, announce the engagement of their daughter, Patricia Jo, to Daryl Ray Enos, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Enos, also of Marion. An August wedding is planned.

Mr. and Mrs. Jack Summerville and Mr. and Mrs. John Summerville, Stephanie and Jason were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. I.R. Gerstenkorn in honor of the Jack Summerville’s 30th wedding anniversary.
