Members of the board of directors of Marion County Hospital District No. 1 received good news Tuesday afternoon. The district will receive a quarter of a million dollars from the estates of Anna and Nellie Ryan, late of Florence.

More than 20 PRIDE awards will be presented Thursday at a banquet to be held at Eastmoor United Methodist Church. These awards have been entitled as “did-something” awards. Other accomplishments will be reported and recognized. The banquet is open to the public.

Mr. and Mrs. James M. Loney will be guests of honor Sept. 12 in celebration of their 30th wedding anniversary. The couple’s six children will host an open house at the Loney home.

Pictured in this issue is Bob Hoover, holding up four golf balls—representing each of his four holes-in-one on the Marion County Club course. Also in the pictures are witnesses, Bob Brooks, Al Bernhardt, and Dutch Hauser, to Bob’s fourth ace scored Saturday on number 3 green.

Judges of the Florence Labor Day parade were County Attorney Steve Johnson, Congressman Garner Shriver, and Attorney General Curt Schneider.
