Marion County winners of the Bankers Awards at the annual soil conservation district meeting Thursday were Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Warkentin, Vincent Vestring (Marion County Key Banker), Mabel Jensen, Fred Shields (Goodyear Award), and Mick Summervill.

Captain Jack Q. Summerville of the Wichita Police Department was elected president of the Kansas Peace Officers Association at the recent convention in Topeka of that organization.

Kerry Domke, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Domke of Marion, has been promoted to budget director for National Cooperative Refinery Association of McPherson.

“Food for Omaha” is the battle cry and the major emphasis of the fund-raising projects this week toward earning money to send the Marion High School Mixed Chorus to perform, later this spring, before a national music educator’s convention in Omaha, Neb. There will be a taco feed, food available at the MarBowl Lanes tournament, and a bake sale at Florence.
