The annual Farm-City Stag will be held Monday at Marion Municipal Auditorium. The meal will be served at 6 p.m. and entertainment by the Marion High School “Swing Singers” will start at 7:30.

Hazel Meierhoff, who retired from service with the Marion County highway department in 1972, is recognized this week in the Personality Profile series. Meierhoff also has been with the Marion volunteer fire department since 1948 and has served as fire chief since 1962.

Mr. and Mrs. Rosse B. Case announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Teresa, to Joe Nielson, son of Mr. and Mrs. C.V. Nielsen, Shawnee. The couple will be married Dec. 18.

Births announced this week include Brendan James, son of Mr. and Mrs. Don Kraus of Marion and Timothy Allen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Olsen of Lincolnville.

Joe Svitak, well-known farmer and businessman in the Pilsen community, died Thursday following a truck-train accident at the railroad crossing near the Donahue Manufacturing Co. plant on the Durham-Lincolnville blacktopped road east of Durham.

Prices listed at Quality Food Market this week include red Delicious apples, 10 for 89 cents; Florida red grapefruit, six for 60 cents; Winchester’s boneless fully cooked hams, $1.79 per pound; boneless Pikes Peak roast, 98 cents per pound.
