Construction progresses on the new worm business building on west Main Street. The business is operated by Dan Opper and Mike Whitney. It is being enlarged from the basement of the building to include a new first-story-level steel structure.

Max Gough of Erie has been hired as Marion County emergency medical services director effective Feb. 15. It was decided at a Monday meeting of Marion County commissioners by a unanimous vote of commissioners Ed Broz, Elmer Uphoff, and M.P. Thompson. In other business, Broz moved to hire Harold Ewert as weed supervisor at an annual salary of $9,600 beginning Jan. 24.
