A tennis league will be organized in Marion for this summer and a special tennis clinic and exhibition will be held here April 3 by J.C. Louderback of Arkansas City.

The Pilsen Polka Pals band is promoting an Alpine Oktoberfest tour that will take them, and their friends, to Austria and Germany with optional side trips into Switzerland and Italy. Price of the tour is said to be moderate.

The cast for Marion High School’s spring musical production “South Pacific” has been selected, according to Jeff Brewer, director. The cast will include 60 Marion High School students including Cheryl Robinson, Gary Boyle, Molly Ferrell, Doug Francis, Van Kerns, Michelle Mellott, Marc Smith, William Kroupa, Randy Just, Scott Miesse and many more.

The public is invited to an open house Sunday at the Elgin House in Marion. Elgin House Apartments now contains 23 apartments on its first, second and third floors. Occupancy will begin April 1. A special 16-page section in this issue tells of the history of the hotel from its beginning to present time.

Molly Ferrell and Kay Blackman have been selected by the American Legion Auxiliary to attend Girls State. Barbara Costello and Sandy Bridges were chosen as alternates.

The senior Marion High School math team, composed of Rhonda Williams, Brad Heerey, Michelle Mellott, and Julie Zerger took first place at the recent CVL math contest held in Council Grove.
