Governor Robert Bennett arrived in Marion about 4 p.m. Friday, the day Marion received the PRIDE Pacemaker Award. He visited Mid-America Nursing Center, was guest of honor at a reception at Marion Country Club and was featured speaker at the award banquet in the gymnasium, the highlight of the day.

The Marion ambulance crew, along with other crews of the county, plan to raise money to purchase a number of two-way radios for use by ambulance personnel and volunteers. Marion County Commissioners have agreed to match, dollar for dollar, funds raised by the crews of all county-owned vehicles.

Patti Vinduska, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Vinduska, has received a Bachelor of Art in Education degree from the University of Kansas.

Lester Griffith, well-known and highly regarded Marion County Agricultural Agent and director of the Marion County Extension Council, has announced he will take early retirement this spring. Griffith has served as Marion County ag agent since Feb. 1, 1960.

Alex Case Jr. and George Jackson are pictured as they welcome Forrest Kelsey and his wife Beatrice to the Marion business community. The Kelseys have opened the new Bekel interior decorating center on Main Street.
