American Legion Post 22 has selected four boys and three girls at Marion High School as delegates to Boys’ State and Girls’ State. They are Bill Hoch, Rick Richmond, Kevin Wilson, Doug Heerey, Pat Fruechting, Marg Kerns, and Donna Stovall.

Representative Pascal Roniger is pictured watching Governor Robert Bennett sign House Bill 3197 which gives Hospital District No. 1 of Marion the legal authority to construct a medical clinic for physicians. The district owns St. Luke Hospital in Marion. Roniger sponsored the special legislation at the request of the hospital board.

Cindy Bernhardt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Bernhardt of Marion, has been selected to receive a National Cooperative Youth Leadership Conference scholarship.

Marion city commissioners received both bad news and good news during the regular session Monday afternoon. The bad news is that Kansas Power and Light Co. has raised rates a whopping 43 percent. The good news is that construction has started on Marion’s CATV community antenna cable television system.

Centre High School students will present the play, “Kiss and Tell,” April 27 and 28. The cast consists of Gayla Gutsch, David Mueller, Lynley Gutsch, Doug Beneke, Perry Gutsch, Melinda Collett, Mike Broce, Randy Hamm, Becky Kleiber, Randy Cain, Kathy Beneke, Tom Remy, Brenda Swinney, Gene Hageberg and Gary Fike.
