Over 50 people entered the second annual Grand National Tiddlywinks Tournament held in Marion Saturday. As a reflection of some of the magnitude this annual event sustains, a reporter from Wichita’s KTVH was on hand to record the action for that night’s television viewers. Final winner was Larry McGahee with Deb Kreutzman taking second, and Scott Heidebrecht, third.

Harold “Dutch” Hauser is the subject of this week’s Personality Profile.

Theresa Kroupa and Rebecca Vinduska both were named as valedictorian graduates in the Marion High School class of 1980. Kroupa is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edmund Kroupa, and Vinduska is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Vinduska, all of Marion. Beth Regier was named salutatorian. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Regier, rural Marion.

This year’s delegates to Boys’ State from Marion and Florence will leave next week for the session. Delegates are Greg Boyle, Paul Loney, Brad Vannocker, Bruce Winkler, David Vantuyl, and Ron Wineinger. Brad Seifert and Kelly Blackman are alternates.

Scholastic honors were given to the following eighth grade graduates with perfect 4.0 averages: Rochelle Mueller, Matt Wineinger, Ron Savage, Stephanie Williams, Dan Horsch, Laura Fisher, Karen Genandt, and Michelle Thole.
