Representatives of the Kansas Department of Transportation will meet with city commissioners and all interested persons Tuesday to evaluate the present bridge over Luta Creek, just east of the Marion Post Office, and to present suggestions for its future.
Marion High School football and volleyball players will be mowing lawns this summer to raise money to purchase weight lifting equipment to be used by their teams.
Doug Kjellin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Kjellin of rural Marion, has been selected to receive a special scholarship to participate in the National Youth Cooperative Leadership Conference at William and Jewel College from June 15-20. The conference will be attended by prospective young agricultural leaders from all parts of America.
Michael Bina, 13-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Laverne Bina of Marion, returned home from the Heart of America Basketball Camp at Salina with several significant awards which included being an “all star player” and “most inspirational” player.”
Terry D. Allen, 36, and his wife Carol, 33, have turned themselves in to authorities in Boulder County, Colorado, after having fought extradition warrants from Marion County since February 1978. The Allens have been wanted in connection with the August 1977 murders of Dennis and Evelyn Armstrong of rural Tampa.
