At the regular Monday meeting, Marion County commissioners voted to purchase the heated fishing dock at Marion County Lake. Ben Schlegel, Wichita, former owner of the dock, was present to discuss terms of the sale. The dock was purchased “as is” for $7,500.
Denise Westerhaus, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin G. Westerhaus, was selected Queen of Court Friday night at the annual Marion High School homecoming. Attendants were Sharon Anderson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Anderson, and Diana Case, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alex Case Jr.
Nathan Smith had the overall best design at the annual Cub Scout Pinewood Derby. Rod Barnett was first in the 8-year-old division. David Baliel took first in 9-year-old category and Nathan Smith was first for the 10-year-olds. David Baliel won the over-all prize for fastest car.
It was Mattie Harrison Day at Mid-America Nursing Center January 30 when Mattie celebrated her 107th birthday. The highlight of the day was her birthday party hosted by her sons and their families, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Harrison and Edna and Mr. and Mrs. Russell Harrison and Louise, all of Wichita.
Mrs. Ruben Winter, Marion, announces the engagement of her daughter, Kathy, to Terry Silhan, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Svitak of Pilsen. A May 4 wedding is planned.
