Kansas United Methodist Church, West Conference, has allocated $5,000 for a pre-school program for children to start in Marion next January. An additional $15,000 has been requested to be provided from federal Title IV-A funds.
Both Brazilian high school boys who have been guests of Marion families for three months have returned to their homes in Brazil. Eduardo Brasil, from Recife, guest of Mr. and Mrs. Roger Hannaford left Friday. Carlos Oliveira, from Manaus, was a guest at the C.A. Brandli home.
Marion motorcyclist Steve Hett was the grand champion winner in the “first annual” Elm Springs Hare and Hound race Sunday afternoon northwest of Durham. Hett, the only rider who actually made it to all five checkpoints, was awarded the trophy for first over-all in the race over a muddy course.
Rex Wilson, track and field coach at Marion High School, will be a guest speaker March 16 at the 11th annual Kansas Track and Field Coaching Clinic at Fort Hays Kansas State College.
John Loney, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Loney, was one of three members of his graduating class at the University of Kansas Medical center to be accepted for a three-year internship and postgraduate work at St. Francis Hospital, Wichita.
