Vice President Gerald Ford visited Kansas Saturday, speaking at Great Bend, at a fund-raising event for Senator Bob Dole and Congressman Keith Sebelius. The Kansans who gathered at the event received Ford enthusiastically.

Don Martin of Marion did his “good deed” for the entire community this past week when he cleaned the weeds from the little cemetery at Cedar Rest. Don read in last week’s Marion County Record about the growth of the unsightly weeds at the cemetery and decided to do something about it.

The Kansas Federation of Women’s Clubs will honor Marion Motor Center Thursday as its “Business for Beauty” winner for 1974.

Employees of the Marion County Courthouse honored John Just at a retirement party Thursday afternoon. Just has been custodian at the courthouse for the past several years. Harold “Bud” Vinduska has been hired to take over the custodian duties.

Keith Collett has been selected as a member of the cast of an original one-act opera, “Nunc Dimittis,” to be presented Wednesday at the KSU Auditorium. The son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Collett, Keith plays the part of a priest.
