Fifth grade students at Marion Elementary School invited parents and other guests Friday afternoon to an authentic Hawaiian party. They were dressed in native costume, with island decorations in the school’s multi-purpose room. Fifth grade teachers Jean Case and Ruth Pankratz were in charge of the production.
John Popp of Marion and Darrel Krause of Lincolnville have been honored by the College of Engineering at Kansas State University. They have been named as the outstanding senior in mathematics and science at Marion and Centre high schools.
More than 200 girls and 50 adult leaders from the Flint Hills Girl Scout Council converged on Marion County Park and Lake Friday afternoon for a two-day “Gold Rush Days” campout.
Marion High School forensic students took many honors last week at the state speech festival. Those who received I ratings were Marsha Jackson and Sharon Anderson, oration; Melissa Hett, informative speaking; Pat Kjellin and Carla Stovall, dramatic interpretation; and John Garrard and Alice Gantz, duet acting.
Mr. and Mrs. Howard Link, Marion, announce the engagement of their daughter, Debra Kay, to Kenneth Raymond Reznicek, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Reznicek Sr., Lost Springs. The wedding date has not been set.
