Nearly $635 worth of merchandise prizes is being offered in the third annual Marion Lake Fishing Derby Sunday at Marion Lake. Fishermen entering the contest will begin and end the contest at the North Cottonwood Point boat ramp.

Jim Bridges of Marion and Lester Owens of Florence were among 19 persons from across Kansas who completed last week an emergency medical technician instructor-coordinator training program at the University of Kansas.

Brent Colle and Roger Hannaford have gone to work for the summer months spraying weeds for the county weed department, according to Gary Krause, supervisor.

Mike Ehrlich’s lightweight steer was a class winner May 11 at the Kansas Junior Polled Hereford Association Spring Show in Salina.

Mr. and Mrs. Norman Mueller left May 16 to attend the graduation and wedding of their son, Norm, and Christy Murphy from Yale University. Both Norm and Christy received juris doctorate degrees.

Debbie Hett celebrated her 12th birthday Wednesday with a slumber party. Her guests were Ann and Jan Bryant, Becky Vinduska, Carla Jost, Kimberly Hett, and Julie Hett.

Mr. and Mrs. Scottie Gound will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday evening with a dinner and family reunion at Betty’s Café, Hillsboro.
