Energy crisis or not, many Marion homes will be in a festive spirit for the holiday season Monday night when luminarias light the way for the Christ child. It is hoped they will line every sidewalk, driveway and entranceway. All that’s needed to make a luminaria is a paper sack, a small amount of sand (available free at Mack-Welling Lumber Co.), and a small candle which will burn for three or four hours.

Four Marion County students performed with the University of Kansas marching band at the Liberty Bowl Monday night. They were Greg Bray, Hillsboro; Larry Hampton, Tampa; Eric Meyer, Marion, and Rod Oelschlager, Marion. Hampton and Oelschlager are percussionists. Bray and Meyer are tuba players.

Dear Santa Claus—I am five years old. For Christmas, I’d like an Etch-o-Sketch, a pogo stick, and a paint set. My buddies here say you aren’t for real, but I know you are real. We will leave milk and cookies on the table for you, and we’ll also leave the front door unlocked, cause our chimney leads down to our basement. Love, Wendy Hett. P.S. Mom and Dad say I’ve been pretty good. I love you.

Cub Scouts Greg Brandli and Doug Regnier are pictured presenting a fruit basket from Den 2 to residents of the convalescent wing of St. Luke Hospital.
