The nation will return to Daylight Savings Time Sunday in an effort to conserve fuel. President Nixon has estimated that 150,000 barrels of oil could be saved each day. This will mark the first time the nation has been on year-round Daylight Savings Time since World War II.

The Corps of Engineers reported four to six inches of snow Dec. 29 and 30, and half an inch during the night of Jan. 1.

Homer Stiller retired, without fanfare, this week after 39 years of dedication and devoted service in the U.S. Postal Service. Stiller begin as a city carrier and after two years became clerk dispatcher for six years. He has been carrying mail on Rural Route 1 for the past 30 years.

John Garrard of the Marion chapter of Future Farmers of America, and currently South-Central District reporter, attended the district FFA officer leadership conference in Topeka Dec. 28 and 29.

Marion rancher J.D. Ferrell’s Paint mare, Rio Retta Bar, 5654, has been named the 18th Supreme Champion of the American Paint Horse Association. Ferrell speculates about breeding Rio Retta to Secretarit, the triple-crown winner this year. Jim Ferrell is the kind of man who makes his dreams come true.

The 1964 graduates of Centre High School held their first class reunion Dec. 22 at Kuntry Kitchen in Herington. Formers teachers who met with the group were James Wyatt, Tom Nash, Goldie Steely, Betty Bevan, and Verona Mulliki
