The Jim Loney family will be honored as Marion’s “family of builders” Monday evening at the annual Kiwanis family picnic in Central Park.
For the first time in the history of the Marion summer youth programs, girls were involved in league ball games this year. Towns in the league were Marion, Florence, Hillsboro, Lincolnville, Peabody and Pilsen.
The “Mud Creek Company” is at it again. They will present two more performances on both Friday and Saturday nights, August 17 and 28, in Marion’s Central Park.
Mrs. Martin Tice hosted a farewell coffee August 3, honoring Mrs. Kirk Lupton and Mrs. Dave Deutschendorf, Troy and Tresa. Sweet rolls and coffee were served to the honored guests and Mrs. Ken Forsyth, Mrs. Charles Kannady, Dirk and Eric, Mrs. Paul Morse, Mrs. Larry Goering, Sandy and Kevin, and Bradley and Greg Tice.
Bev Backhus, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Backhus of Tampa, was named Tri-County Junior Miss at Herington last week. In addition to winning the title of Junior Miss, Bev also won a number of awards for the best scholastic achievement, youth fitness and best dressed in evening attire.
