Marion Chamber of Commerce members heard some little-known facts of Marion County history Friday noon when Phyllis Melton, well-versed county and city historian, gave a short but informative program following the dinner and business meeting.

The subject of this week’s “Personality Profile” feature is Ted Cash, former owner of the Ted Cash sign business at Wichita, now retired and living at Marion County Park and Lake.

Centre High School seniors David Mueller and Gayla Gutsch were chosen king and queen for Cougar homecoming festivities this past Friday. They were crowned in halftime ceremonies at the Centre-Chase County football game, which Centre won 32-0.

Herman Meyer of Lincolnville is pictured with a four-pound radish that came from his garden southeast of Lincolnville. The big vegetable measures about five inches in diameter.

George and Charlene Svitak, the Pilsen Polka Pals, were honored Saturday when they were asked to entertain guests who were awaiting the arrival of President Jimmy Carter at Century II in Wichita. They entertained the group with many stirring Czech selections
