Soldiers from the Army National Guard bridge platoon stationed at the Council Grove Armory removed the old “Creamery Bridge” across Luta Creek the past weekend. E-4 David Ruhl waded into Luta Creek to retrieve the iron sign, which marked the 92-year-old bridge. The sign will be placed in the Marion County Historical Museum.

Marion High School business students taught by Helen Reznicek won many awards at Bethel College Thursday. Students are Peggy Owens, Gena Helmer, Linda Schaffer, Robin Brooks, Brenda Friesen, Karen Hayes, Tammy Sandwell, Becky Vinduska, Donna Casey, Annette Nienstedt, Rick Richmond, and Barry Allen.

This week’s Personality Profile by Ruth Meyer features Roger Hiebert, young auctioneer who does some farming, and has a herd of 40 stock cows.

Casey Case, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alex Case, and a senior at Marion High School, has signed a letter of intent to play football at Cowley County Community College.

Articles introducing the newspaper’s several country correspondents begin this week with Mrs. Robert (Hattie) Laughridge who has written Cedar Point news items for Marion County Record readers for what she believes to be about 15 years
