Janet Hett, student at Florence Middle School, won first place in the Kansas Woman’s Christian Temperance Union essay contest for junior high age students. Her essay, “What’s Wrong with Tobacco—It’s Use and Effects,’ will now be entered in national competition.
Four Marion County girls, Julie Hett, Linda Schaffer, Lori Hett, and Theresa Kroupa will join 15 other 17-year-old girls competing for the title of Junior Miss Tuesday and Wednesday nights at the Tri-County Fair.
