Marion Chamber of Commerce served steaks to over 500 farmers Monday at the annual Farm-City Week steak stag. More than 300 farmers stayed for the entertaining after- dinner program when county-western and gospel musician Benny Holtsclaw was featured.

Marion High School’s barbershop quartet went to Emporia High School Nov. 10 and competed in statewide competition. The group, composed of Greg Boyle, Brad Seifert, Kevin McGahee, and Brian Bowers, finished fifth out of 15 schools.

The subject of this week’s Personality Profile is Rev. Lester Owens, minister at Florence Christian Church.

Owens and his wife are running two sections of classes being taught to volunteers who will staff new ambulances now coming under government operation in place of the private ambulances of former years.

The nucleus of the 1978-79 Cottonwood Valley League champion Marion Warriors basketball team consists of lettermen Kevin Jirak, Greg Boyle, Brian Allen, and Kevin McGahee. Seniors Doug Webb, Gary Ehrlich, and John Dyck join the team.
