Congressman Dan Glickman visited Valley United Methodist Church combined classes Sunday morning. He opened the session to questions after a presentation of about 30 minutes in which he reviewed American History and the theory of our form of government.

Phyllis Melton, widow of the late Dr. R.R. Melton, has been selected as a Kansas Merit Mother by the Kansas Mothers Association. She attended the honors luncheon in Topeka on April 22.

Marion High School students Marty Fredrickson and Jeff Conyers are pictured in the governor’s office in Topeka. The boys served as pages for State Senator John Crofoot during the wrap-up session of the Legislature.

Deputy County Clerk Marquetta Eilerts, Peabody, has been named acting county clerk following the death last week of Barbara Farley. Eilerts will continue in the post until the governor finalizes an appointment submitted by the commission.

Cindy Stewart and Kim Schaffer, Marion High School juniors, have been selected as Florence representatives to Girls’ State. Schaffer will be the delegate and Stewart will serve as alternate.
