In a special meeting of the Marion County Commission Tuesday afternoon, Cedar Rest, the county-owned nursing home in Peabody, was sold to a pair of Chicago real estate investors.

The Kansas Bluegrass Association will present “Bluegrass in the Park,” a three-day jam session at Marion County Lake this weekend.

Among the musicians expected to play is the Nelson Funk family of Hillsboro, known professionally as the “Bluegrass Jayhawkers.”

Ron Wineinger, son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Wineinger of Marion, is one of two candidates for the office of governor at the American Legion Boys’ State now in session on the campus of the University of Kansas at Lawrence.
