Terry D. Allen, 36, and his wife Carol, 33, have turned themselves in to authorities in Boulder County, Colorado. The couple has fought extradition proceedings since 1978 when law enforcement officers connected them with the August 1977 murders of Dennis and Evelyn Armstrong in rural Tampa.

Sue Harris and Paula Nickels will be knocking on doors this summer to tell elderly persons of a new program sponsored by the North Central Flint Hills Area Agency on Aging designed to help persons over 60 become more aware of programs and services available to them.

Beginning July 1, public school students must present certification that they have received their full slate of state-prescribed inoculations. The measure requires that all students be inoculated against measles, mumps, whooping cough, rubella, polio, diphtheria, and tetanus.

Jeff Longhofer of Marion, graduate student at the University of Kansas, will be the featured speaker Tuesday at the Marion County Historical Society annual meeting.

Marion High School football and volleyball players will be mowing lawns this summer to raise money to purchase weight lifting equipment to be used by their teams.

Lola Washmon, Hillsboro, has been named branch manager of the Marion and Hillsboro offices of First Federal Savings and Loan. Before joining First Federal, she was deputy city clerk for the city of Hillsboro.

Doug Kjellin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Kjellin of rural Marion, has been selected to receive a special scholarship to participate in the National Youth Cooperative Leadership Conference June 15-20 at William and Jewel College.
